Not toxic, as far as I can see, but the seed capsules have a kind of barbs, and they cling to clothing and the fur of animals. Skirts or pant legs can be full of them, and you have to remove them individually. This is the one weed I try to eradicate from my garden every year, but every time some little plants escape me, and its seeds hitch a ride on my pants. Or the fur of my poor long haired cat.

Don't believe everything you read :-) The Galium aparine pops up wherever it feels inclined in my garden - sun or shade, moist or dry. The sweet woodruff does prefer shade, but it is also growing in my garden in very sunny positions as well. I find the sweet woodruff much more aggressive than the cleavers, as it is perennial and spreads primarily via roots.....a very dense and all encompassing flat root system!! Removing a dense planting is a lot like rolling up a carpet :-) The cleavers are an annual and a once-and-done weeding situation unless allowed to go to seed.

Agree with Epilobium. You do not want to keep it Debra it will pop seeds all over.

Anagallis arvensis, Scarlet Pimpernel. Not all the leaves belong to it. There's also what looks like an Acalypha in the mix.
