no dig gardening timber edging

I am creating a new edible garden. And I decided to use the no dig method in order to have more instaneous results.

We've got plenty of old timber fence cladding left over and perhaps it could suit me for the edging (2 of them nailed on an upright).

I heared that timber in the garden would perhaps attract termites to the garden and then to the house. Is this true?

We really do not want to have pest control in our house and termites are in every third garden (said a pest contoller to me).

Or if not timber do you have other suggestions whoch does not take too much space like rocks and is not too expensive?

thanks for ideas and information!
