garry, 'Silver Swan' (also 'Tasmanian Tiger' and 'Glacier Blue') are all variegated forms of E. characias and therefore quite a bit less hardy than any hybrids like 'Helena's Blush' or x martinii. The variegation also tends to reduce hardiness and offers limitations on vigor as well - E. characias in my climate tends to be a BIG, robust, freely seeding plant that takes extremes of winter in stride. Not so for any of the variegated forms.

I think it's better to speak from the Araucarioides-Group: All those forms are characterised by rope-like or snake-like foliage. One tree-like form with a central leader is called Araucarioides, more bushy habit with several leaders: Dacrydioides. But there are more very similar or identical clones named: ' Araucarioides',' Athrotaxoides', 'Dacrydioides', ' Enko', ' Hoo', ' Ito', ' Kewensis', Lycopodioides', ' Selaginoides', ' Viminalis'. And it's very difficult or not possible to see a difference between young plants. Do you have a pic of your Dacrydioides from the RTBG? Cupressus cashmeriana: There is a blue and a green selection, available in the nursery of Hodi Toth,Jozsef from Hungaria and these 2 must be less sensitive to frost, maybe with protection in the first years hardy in Z 7.The normal cashmeriana is not hardy enough in Germany. Surely our Hungarian friends know how hardy the selections are. Wolfgang

Fantastic Michelle gosh those roses are so beautiful, I adore that Pat Austin it has to go on my "Wish List" also Mary Mc. Just curious I remembered that you had your roses in pots while you were landscaping, so what do you have in the pots now. That Tassie garden is a dream, a bit like the dream of winning a share of Lotto tonight and seeing it in the flesh so to speak, now that I would like.
