Rita, The coloring, eye and edge on Extravagant is just incredible. What I also like that seems to be a distinguishing feature standing out so much is the "starburst" effect with the color shooting out on the midribs from the throat to the 3 points of the dark eye. Siloam Plum Tree is very pretty, isn't that just like a daylily! They often know when you are thinking of getting rid of them, & then give a great bloom season so you hold on to them. I understand that clay soil is really quite fertile, just heavy. You wouldn't think the daylily would like it too well though. Gadsden seems to be taking a year off hear, it has some blooms but don't look too good. Yours seems to be picking up the slack from mine.

@ Beth. Yes it is. The whole flower started off with colors similar to Remember Me but quickly faded, and then the pink rim started. The 4" flowers have a medium rose/fruit fragrance. This is my first year with this variety. @summers Kordes Perfekta has beautiful flowers, but has a 50/50 survival rate bareroot, regardless of how big & healthy the green canes look. The plant is vigorous but has ungainly architecture. It tends to be scraggly and leafless until it decides to take off and fill out four years later. However, the huge five inch flowers are perfection every time they bloom.

So here is Lillian's Vapor Trail and it's doing great, too. So, with this one, it's more of the "spider" type, but both daylilies are registered as UF crispates. They do wonderfully well for us. The scapes are above the foliage. I do not know how Fred's daylilies do in colder climates. Debra has Lillian's Thin Ice, and I hope to see her picture of it soon. Regardless of me saying disappointing on Destined To See, that is scape height, not the flower--how about this one to start a hot June day?--Looks like five petals to me, still trying to see if there are five sepals. Kay, that's a poor picture of A. Skyline. all washed out by the sun. I hope to have a better photo next time. Same with Topguns Aztec Vision, the color is much more intense than my pic shows.
