Such good flowers for indoors too. They last for a couple of weeks in a vase. Great picture Jan.

Gorgeous blooms John. Do you find them easy to grow? I tried once but had no success.

I've picked up most of my alstro's at mass merchandisers like Lowe's, and a couple even at grocery stores, around the spring holidays, particularly Mothers Day, when they sell them as blooming potted plants. When I see a color I don't have, I buy it. I also have the dwarf agapanthus. It has proven completely hardy here for me, and has the nicest dark blue blooms in July. Another plant not in its zone but which has come back long-term and bloomed for me is Crinum.

Hey Spazzycat. I grow Sweet Laura. It is not my favorite because it needs support.Very floppy. And lemon yellow is a hard color for me to work with. I do have another variety (don't know the name) that I got from BB that is variegated and does not flop. It is a ruby red with a lime green throat. You are welcome to some when it comes up in Spring. I am always digging it up and giving it away or throwing it out. It multiplies very quickly. Jim

Fabulous colour. My pinks are out and hopefully some yellow next year (courtesy of John and Les who kindly sent me some)

Well, well, I don't believe it. I haven't been on the Garden web for the past couple of years, moving, illness etc. However today a friend had a query so I said I would ask the experts on the garden web, hence I am here today, and lo and behold the first post I see is from my dear old friend Jan at Phillip Island with my favourite (next to roses) flower, and there is my reply to Jan's post in 2005 - at the top of the page. Fate or what? So 'hello' to everyone who knew me from the old days. Tricia
