I have bleeding heart clero. I have peach butterfly ginger and maybe a yellow/orange. (It is due to bloom soon, then I'll know for sure.)Pink crinum if you instruct me on dividing it.

Tanima No Uki is a weakling. in my estimate... parvs are slow to begin with.. then introduce the white tissue ... and you have a recipes for disaster.. which i think you said you already learned ... LEAVE IT ALONE ... as long as it looks like the rest i wish i had a nickel for every time i typed this ... i would be a dollar-aire ... lol .. learned from the hosta world.. white tissue has no chlorophyll ... so it doesnt produce food for the plant ... it is a net negative ... some plants compensate by greening up ... and they thrive.. others stay white and do NOT ... white tissue tends to burn in the sun.. winter and summer.. so the inclination is to plant them in shade ... but this dichotomy is hard.. since the plant has reduced food making capabilities... ergo... the perfect shade grows a thriving plant.. a plant with white in too much shade fails ... more green... [less white] means... more food production... means faster establishment ... means a stronger plant ... reduce the canopy by removing it ... and you reduce vigor.. on a plant that is already in a lot of shade ... and has white in it ... that little tuft is looking better and better all the time... eh??? LEAVE IT THERE if true to the name.. make sense?? ken

Luckygal, it's just pure luck with me, you should have seen the mess I used to make when making an arrangement for one of our garden club parlour shows. It's more monkey see monkey do with me LOL. Flora, couldn't you amend your soil to suit one, mine might not be in chalky soil but competes with the roots of a Robinia tree and without any special care I might add. I first saw Cardiocrinums in the University of B.C.'s botanical garden, several of us were over for their first mother's day plant sale. I spotted one in a gallon pot and snapped it up, it was a bit pricey I thought ($18) but at that time this was the only place you would see never mind buy one. It took two more years before that first one I bought bloomed, it was well worth the wait though, it's perfume filled my garden with it's lovely scent making me not want to go in at night. I didn't feel to bad about that $18 when a few years later a nursery where I bought most of my must have plants from introduced them as new on the market and were asking $100 for a small bulb. Now you can buy small bulbs for less than $10. For those who are not familiar cardiocrinums, it takes 7 or so years from seed to bloom and then it dies but not before producing offsets, these offsets take 3 or 4 years before they will bloom. I now have two varieties, here's a picture of the foliage so even when you are waiting for it to bloom the foliage is attractive. Annette

Oh, Karen. I wasn't bored at all. I was totally enthralled by the ever changing colors. The first 2 daylilies are fantastic, whatever their true color. I understand wanting to share all of this beauty with someone who can appreciate it. My husband is not a gardener at all, but is so sweet to walk outside with me when I want to show him something. Bless his heart, he tries to show enthuriasm the best way he can. Plus he lets me garden as much as I want. Please keep posting your beautiful pictures. Ann
