identify weed please!

Can anyone tell me what this weed is & if it is edible?
Also, is there a specific forum for this purpose - where you can post photos of weeds or unknown plants?

That's a weed, I keep pulling it out but I dunno what it's name is. A good 'weed' book, by the way, is worth the monetary outlay. As for pant id. this is a good site.

That's mayapple, Podophyllum peltatum. Most woodland gardeners would consider it a wildflower. Has a rather large white flower, in mid-May, which kind of hides beneath the leaves. Has a spreading root system. Will turn yellow and die back to the ground by August, at least here in New Jersey. Never heard of anyone wanting to control it, but I guess you could just mow over it.

Thanks for your response, I believe it is spurge ,because I googled to see a picture of it and it looks like spurge. I have it in my yard and pulled up a lot yesterday. It is an annual weed. Betty

Pokeweed can be poisonous to both animals and humans, but usually animals will leave it alone unless they have little else to eat. Check with your North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service people on the best ways to control this, since the roots can be very pervasive. kimmq is kimmsr

Can't tell you what it is, but I can suggest a remedy. Weed-b-Gon or Weed-b-Gon Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis Killer should take out this broadleaf plant without harming normal turf grasses.

Bidens pilosa is also a host and vector to harmful parasites such as root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne species) and tomato spotted wilt virus (GISD 2010)
