One of the lovliest roses in the world and of all time, is the light pink 'Madamoiselle Cecille Brunner' and its' darker pink sport 'Marie Daly', which I'd suggest for a hot climate place like Texas because it does not bleach out like the original Madamoiselle Cecille Brunner. Here in the S.F. Bay area 'Marie Daly' matures at a height of 4' tall on its own roots, which I prefer, for their better bloom production over a 20 year span, and because roses budded onto rootstock can grow to be 25%-50%larger than the same cultivar grown on its own-roots. helpmefind.com has photos of Marie Daly and says it is disease resistant in Texas. vintagegardens.com sells Marie Daly' on its' own roots, and A.R.E. might. White roses that are less than 4' tall, and shade tolerant. 'Katherine Zeimet' a white Polyantha, with dark green glossy foliage that is resistant to most fungal disease. In our neighborhood near San Francisco, it stays lower than 3' tall, when grown on its own roots. It makes a nice low hedging plant because of the density of its foliage and blooms. The clone of 'Little White Pet' that we got from Canada has shaplier flowers than the 'L.W.P.' I bought from California and the Canadian one (from hortico.com) blooms nearly constantly. It has matured at c. 2 and 3/4' tall. Good health, a little bit suseptible to p.m. but never defoliates from it, and keeps on blooming steadily. Good luck, let us know which rose you choose. Lux. I adore 'Perle d' Or', but because it reaches a mature height of c. 10 ft. tall in California, unless pruned regularly, I'd suggest one of the smaller rosebushes for anyone who doesn't wish to prune for size.

I heard from Suzanne that Lynn won HT Queen with Marilyn Monroe and Jeff Stage won Mini Queen. I didn't go either Connie as my roses aren't blooming. Hopefully I will have something for the PSWD.

And she gets so excited about Puppy Competition (our name for AKC trials)and Puppy School (I have to drive about an hour's commute both ways to practice usuallly around 3:00-5:00 a.m. once a week). Unfortunately we can't afford to compete except for 4-5x a year compared to everyone who does 24x a year minimum (trialing at other venues besides AKC or traveling out-of- state for AKC). At the Pro-Level, competing multiple times is crucial to earn the Master Agility Champion rank; so sadly it may take forever! for us to get our MACH title. How often you compete has a huge impact! So we train really hard and do tons of praying that we make it, hehe! Eluane is very tiny for a B.C. but unfortunately she is in the 20" division which has the majority of Border Collies flooding her height division, so we are always super worried when our turn comes up. And yes we have to compete against the MACH handlers at our level regardless of whether it's Open or the Excellent (pro-level). Now that I have a Blackberry, I always get to email Jim1961 whenever our turn comes up to so that he can help cross fingers for us, haha! Krista, I wish Cornelia bloomed as bountifully as your gorgeous hybrid musk Felicia. Cornelia will only put her most magnificent show in the Spring. The quantity of flowers is only so-so in Fall. Summer output is dreadful! But Cornelia does have a wonderful scent and it fills the air and resembles fragrant cherry blossoms. I am also debating about showing the full bush shot of my Lincolns. I noticed that my bloom shots do not do justice as to how huge and prolific a bloomer and what a great performer/vigor for an HT this rose is. The garden shot is not "pristine" of course, but it does show the real life proportions of the grapefruit-sized blooms and Lincolns' vigor for a completely no-spray garden. If enough people are interested I will go ahead and add the garden photo taken in October, autumn being the prime BS season for Kansas. But I will wait and see what people think and if they do want to see the full bush shot.

HalloBlondie, I’ve heard great things about Crocus rose for colder zones, I’ll have to keep my eye out for it. LD Braithwaite is doing well for me here too, second year in a protected location with minimal dieback. Walmart (of all places) is where I found LD Braithwaite. Canadian Shield is doing great for me as well. Planted last year and very little dieback this year - in a spot with reliable snow cover. It had bright clear red blooms all last season, however no fragrance I could notice. I almost bought more, Costco online has 6 plants for $64.99, no membership needed & free shipping, https://m.costco.ca/bulbs-plants-seeds.html Costco online had a David Austin rose collection before but it looks like it’s not longer available, I’ll have to keep an eye out for it next year. Oscar Peterson had lots of powdery mildew for me last year but perhaps this year it will be better. I did have one wet year where Winnipeg Parks had lots of black spot, but not for the last two years. Mary_rockland, Priarie Joy is another excellent rose, I can’t believe I forgot about it, it’s also up there as a favourite. The only drawback is it lacks fragrance. However it flowers all season long, the blooms have a neat cup shape, and the plant has interesting matte blue-green leaves and a fantastic dense bush form. I got Wasagaming mail order through Cornhill Nursery, they have a lot of specialty roses, http://www.cornhillnursery.com/Roses.html . It was very small and twig-like when I got it and now it’s become a monster! One of my hardiest and biggest roses now, incredible fragrance and dripping in blooms during its flush. Unfortunately it has only one flush of blooms, but the flush lasts for a while, I think for almost a month. Most roses are just starting to form buds at the end of their tips right now here, it’ll be a while yet before I see blooms.
