Brrrrrr, Jo! I so loved the photos. Not so cold today, so I moved all my staghorn ferns and Meyer lemon and bougainvillea and peace lilies and birdnest ferns outdoors. They look so nice hanging in the camellia sasanqua limbs. Supposed to stay sort of warm and rain next three days. All my eager beaver hosta pips will be scrambling for the sun. Would you believe that I placed an order for three plantaginea that I have no memory of placing? Well, they arrived on Thursday and two of them have about 6 or so pips showing, Mama's family is taking up more acreage. Or, maybe I can call my place a "pottager"...? Since the potted part of a cottage garden must be a pottage.....I'll make note of that word....might come in handy PS...I know "potager garden" is a kitchen garden. What I'm getting at is the poTTage for a cottage is a pottager...2 T's... I think that might be a new word. I hope the guys the keep track of these things such as new words first used (like the Oxford English Dictionary On Historic Principles) will immortalize my new word as a "POTTAGER GARDENER" Really, this remodel is getting to me and I'm ready for spring myself.

Very pretty Sherry. Blue pots just make the plants pop---and make for a nice presentation. Over a decade ago, my father-in-law died, and we had to clean up his house. He had a lot of really nice plants that I didn't fully appreciate back then. He had a very large terracotta pot---I'd say about 18 to 24 inches with a big crack in it. We got rid of it. Now, looking back, I think that pot, crack and all, would have lasted a very long time because he caulked the crack. I think with the right kind of caulking, the pot might have lasted longer than me! Just want to mention that in case anyone wants to try it.

I have kept the dinosaur kale alive for almost 2 years over a hot summer. Also the Siberian large kale will live through heat and cold. I grow it starting in the fall. I gambled and planted some squash. We will see if I have time. Still thinking about planting some snap beans. It is close to the marginal time for planting. After 3.75 " ; I still have dry soil not far down.

Haha, sherry, little do you know I overwintered my first potted hosta last year. An extra piece of an Undulata Albomarginata. It was a trial to see if I could do it. It survived which amazed me. Anyway, your potted arrangement and others are an inspiration to me to maybe try some potted hostas. I love the combination of colors and how the hostas appear tobe cascading down from the top. Very creative and lovely. debra
