My Red Canna seeds are just about ready for harvest and they are so beautiful this year. They attract humming birds and butterflys. I would love to trade for different colored canna's, leaf varietys. I have been bitten by the Canna Bug! This is what it looks like below -

What is and where did you come up with C. Amazon Butterfly? Is that the name of a canna? Kent

The plant has to expend energy to form seeds, so in theory at least, removing the pods as soon as they begin to develop would prompt the plant to put the energy no longer needed for making seeds into making more flowers. Once the pods are mature, it would make no difference at all whether they are removed or not because the plant is no longer providing any nourishment to them at that time. That's why the capsules turn brown. In either case, the rhizome keeps developing continuously as long as its environmental needs are met.
