Bingo! Thank you so much! I googled them, and of course some sites said they only grew to zone 8 warmest - HA! We are zone 9 heading lately towards zone 10 - I never pay attention to the top heat zone for plants, unless it is below 8. Jackie

Almost certainly Galium aparine, aka cleavers or bedstraw. It pulls out easily in moist soil but also breaks off easily. My pup is forever bringing in pieces of it attached to his fur after doing his rounds of the exterior of the garden where it abuts the greenbelt.

I never was much of a rose person, I just happen to acquire several from customers who came into my work. So, here is the question: I am trying to research all the plants I have because I will be moving & trying to take several with me, so I want to take the best care of them I can. SO>>> Besides my curiosity, is there really a need for me to research really deep Exactly what rose I have...As far as taking care of them, a rose is a rose, right? Please forgive me for my ignorance.

Yup, Ranunculus of some type. We need a close up of mature leaves, and maybe a front-facing photo of the flower, to be more specific. But most of the yellow wildlings are weedy, and the reason it comes back after being mowed is that it spreads both by rhizome and seed. Cattle and horses won't touch the species (R. carolinianus) that is common in this area, and it tends to take over pastures for that very reason. Well, that and the fact it gets "fertilized" in pastures, lol. It's really pretty: acres and acres of sunny yellow, with hardly a blade of grass to be seen. *Ahem*
