Leather ferns

How do Leather Ferns do in the ground? I can't remember their proper name (brain like a sieve lately). I have several growing in baskets which I split up and repotted yesterday. As they have grown so much I as wondering how they would do in the ground. I know what growing conditions they like but am unsure if they would spread too much or become a pest.

They would be part of the understory in the rainforest area which is well mulched but only gets enough water to keep things alive. I have several blechnums , both small and tree ferns, which are doing well, also Cyathea tree ferns.

Every time I think ferns in the ground I have images of a childhood neighbour who made the mistake of planting the common fishbone fern in the garden and I don't want that happening here.

Does anyone else have any planted in their garden?
