Hi Denise, Been meaning to get back to you -- too busy ;>) Hi QF, Funny you should ask how we grew it & about moisture, mentioning semi-Hydro. When I explained how I was growing it, a friend laughingly called it growing on the beach: in a small glass bowl/jar lined w/ pumice into which I set the small pot w/ a single cutting, w/ a wick extending from its pot into the bed of pumice. I watered to overflow several times a week: it kept it moist MOST of the time. I lost it after I time, may have accidentally let it dry out & I'd only had a small piece of it anyway. I guess FOR ME, this one was a bit more high maintenance than I managed well.

Jim, I've contemplated Hoyacide with various species, but I restrain myself. It usually pays off to just wait the little darlings out... Have you tried the Eleanor's VF-11 yet? I have a few that were on the verge of death late last winter when I started using it. They bounced back beautifully and have new growth, and all the ones that were doing "fine" are now doing spectacularly. I'm not going to say unequivically that it was JUST the Eleanor's - I've talked to growers that aren't using it that say it's been a good year for Hoyas, so some of it may be coincidental. But I've seen such great things this year that you couldn't pry the stuff out of my cold, dead hands at this point!! Give it a try with your stubborn Hoya. BTW, when I buy a new Hoya, I purchase it for the appearance of the foliage so that if it doesn't flower (or is a stingy bloomer...), I'll still be happy with its appearance. Good luck! OK I'm back with more questions. I've been reading a lot today. One website says grey spite are botrytis blight. I hope I spelled that correctly. Lol.is that what this is? This is the same plant in the other photos when i ask if it was a disease.can it be saved?.i have lots of house plant but never heard of this diease.

I have purchased from Violet Barn as well and have received healthy plants. I was curious about how they cut some of their leaves. When I emailed them about it, this was their response: "We purposely cut leaves, when they are first propagated--makes them more readily rooted as well as for shipping purposes. Since these are always older/original leaves, it won't have any impact on the growth or look of plant when mature." Does anyone else do this when rooting? I learn something new everyday. I have to say, Violet Barn does do a great job wrapping their plants for shipping. I also like how they are labeled and dated.
