I have many yellow Lady banks roses and would like to have some Pink and White ones. I have red pine cone ginger tubulers to trade and yellow Lady banks cuttings.

I used to live on a property that had the double white form of 'Lady Banks' growing on the surrounding fences. It's scent is light in strength on an individual blossom, and of violets. On a warm day with high humidity the scent was more moderate in strength, around the bush. The smaller white flowered Banksiae, c. 1 inch wide, also has, to my nose a violet scent, but it is not as strong as the double form of white "Lady Banks", I smelled the smaller floral form two days ago to make sure of this. I love the double white form of "Lady Banks" best of all the Banksiae, not only for its' pristine white blooms that to my eyes, have the most elegant form of all the Banksiae, but also for its' very attractive dark green foliage, which makes it an attractive foliage plant as well, and it keeps its leaves late into the Autumn, where I live near San Francisco, Ca., Here the double white form of 'Lady Banks' repeats about 15% of its' Spring bloom, in Autumn. Rachel, when we got our Yaller L.B. (R. banksia lutea) it was this big ugly stump. It was half of the plant that an elderly member of our rose society had dug up, when she sold her home. She'd grown it for years, having received it in turn from another older lady. We planted the ugly thing, and it sat there for about 3 years. Didn't grow, but the younger parts of it remained green. In Year Four, it finally started to grow, and it hasn't stopped since. It jumped the fence it was planted next to, leaped to a nearby tree, and has grown right out the top of it. So my suggestion would be to keep it watered. Don't feed it. I suspect it is growing roots, and it must do that before it builds top-growth. This is a BIG BIG rose. It really does match the saying: "First they sleep. Then they creep. Then they leap." If you think it is vulnerable where it is, you sure could pot it up, and let it grow until it is more substantial. Jeri
