well, that s--ks! haha! Glad something made me to double check! so does anyone know anything about lopping it off before wintering in a warmer location? I got it so it could climb a barren double-rail wood fence between properties... if i took it out this year and then replanted it next spring would it actually grow to an ok size where it might climb and flower, or does this plant really need to establish for more time?

Thanks, guys! That's encouraging. Ricky, the orange jasmine I have is the Lakeview. It's awful looking, both the shrub one and the standard I had in a pot. Not a living leaf on it, but I'm hanging in there, hoping it will pull through. I love the scent of those blooms. Mike, my gold mound durantas got hit last year, too, and were black, but came back without pruning. Funny, this year, the plants are completely black, except for the tips, which already have bright green leaves coming out. So I'm thinking they'll be okay, if we don't get hit again. Mary, I had temps around 25 & 26 degrees for five of the eight nights that we had hard freezes. And the temps stayed in the mid-20's for HOURS. I hope you didn't have much worse than that. I'm very happy to hear that your night-blooming jasmine came back strong. Did you have to cut it back? I'm dreading that. Mine was 5' x 3', and I hate having to start over. But I guess it grows fast, because it went from a small cutting to that size in one year. No, I won't be pruning until after March 1, but I'm trying to get a sense of what might pull through and what won't. Thanks again for the input! Marcia

I believe it is the Italian Jasmine. Tubular stalks of the yellow flowers, highly fragrant which I get to appreciate when I pass them by. (see pic with the spent bloom - the bloom was already spent prior to transplant) When I transplanted, it was shady afternoon, no sun. They came in plastic sleeves so I merely took them off and placed them in the pot with drainage holes. The entire root ball was hardly disturbed at all. The bottom soil of the root ball was moist and it even had earth worms which I thought would be beneficial for the soil and plant. I watered it afterwards and kept it away from direct sun. I was unpleasantly surprised to find out the morning after that some of the leaves have turned brown (brown patches on the leaves surfaces) and some have shriveled. It was upsetting as the root ball was barely disturbed. the soil was still moist and i checked it further with a soil moisture monitor and also stuck my finger down the soil as well so i didnt water it today. I tried however to loosen up the soil surrounding the root ball for fear that it drowned or something. I love this plant and its the only one I have so i dont want to lose it. Please help

Well...purpleinopp, I did put some banana peels in my Jasmine, I usually give it Epsom Salts once every 6 weeks,1TBLSP/!GALL., and alternate it with 20-20-20 1/2 tsp and 14 drops of SCHULTZ's 10-15-10 Plant Food Plus liquid fert., every time I water!!! I should say I have it still in the 3-4 gall. container that it came in when I purchased it. I should probably re-pot it in a bigger container, it has a lot of foliage, but it's trailing on my backyard fence and I'm afraid to "disturb It" or damage It during the process. Can you tell me if I could leave it THERE...or maybe ..should I prune It later? I'll be anxious to hear from you. Thankful Annamaria
