Rotonone biodegrades very quickly and the likelyhood of rainwater run off contamination is about nil, unless you spray in the rain or happen to have a garden on the banks of a lake or stream. This isn't even an issue. The nitrogen from manure is much more likely to cause lake or stream pollution by run off that Rotonone is. Do you also propose to stop using manure in the garden. A garden is not a perfect, natural environment that grows untouched and is in a perfectly natural state. When we create a garden, we create an altered environment, and that brings with it problems such as soil depleation, insect population changes, weeds, etc. As gardeners, we need to intervene in the most harmless way possible to correct problems caused by imbalances we create. Anything we do or add to correct imbalances has the potential to cause problems, which is why common sense and good judgement is essential. If you have a sever problem with harmful insects because of imbalances, you have a choice to make. Do nothing, and lose the crop, or intervene using the safest organic remedys available. Of course, you can introduce beneficial insects to eat the bad bugs, which by the way, causes another imbalance. You can hand pick the little critters too. But chances are you will lose the crop, and the problem will remain. I am still here and puzzled. I do not understand why people have so much trouble with this Canna. We had an unusual summer with temps above 90 for months and I still did not get burns this year. The first year I had some burning. None since. I think it is a gardener's teaching that plants will rot if they grow in as much water as I am growing my Cannas. Admittedly I stumbled on this method out of desperation. I travel often I leave on Mondays and return Fridays. I am not home to water everyday. This schedule can go on for 3 wks. So I started with drainage holes but brought the cheap baby diapers 1.99 at Big lots. Soaked them for an hour and would take the jello stuff out and mixed it with the soil. The pots were still dry when I returned on Friday. That is when I went to no drainage, diapers, and filling the pots with water and 3/4 soil. For those that want and can grow them in the ground all year. I would dig a hole lay a garbage bag in the planting area and go with the diaper, soil, water mixture and water daily. I am not only using the over water process with Stuey, I use it with all my cannas because I cannot water every day. They are beautiful. By the way..I brought this canna from a water garden site. So I suspect that is why it responds to more water than soil treatment. I do not know why the others like it also. Maybe all cannas are water hogs it is just stuttgart shows how unhappy it is by burning leaves. So I guess I am saying either treat it as a water plant or learn to love burned leaves.

Not relevant for ladylotus, however two distinctions need to be noted: 1) Coastal douglas fir Pseudotsuga menziesii should only be planted as a tree for the warm regions of the west coast where it is native . . . interior Douglas fir Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca never should be planted as a tree in the warm regions of the native coastal douglas fir. And vice-versa. 2) As understocks for grafted forms, interior Douglas fir will be OK as an understock for the more "coastal areas." (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca) For the rest of the country, however, and for grafting purposes only Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca should be grown for planting and grafting use for two reasons: a) hardiness & b) tolerance to climate. --------- Just as this goes for the USA, it would now be said that when comparing species-varietals for use in other places of the world, of course a coastal form of Douglas fir would better fit areas of the world such as the U.K. (similar climates). Not virus. How many leaves are affected? (I don't see many in the overall images.) Most often, it's only the older leaves I'm not familiar with the ferts you use. Why are you using light doses? It's better to follow label directions.
