Aimee Vibert is still flowering.. such a lovely thing to have.. pruned a few that really don't like to have a severe haircut, do them like a summer prune.. just as if I was rose picking... Friesia especially hates the full snip..

Took cuttings from AC Queen of Hearts, with fingers crossed. Boy would it make a super hedge or what,,,moved three other roses from one part of the garden to another.. Admired Sparrieshoop, admired it's offspring Rosendorf Sparrieshoop, both still flowering, ditto Seafoam, looks lovely with that winter blush of pink it gets.. glared at the DA's, they don't seem to grow all that well up here.. except of course for beautiful Moonbeam, who is large and covered in hips.. due for haircut July 1.

Closed my eyes and shovel pruned Aloha... consigned her quickly to the rubbish heap lest I change my mind.

Asked husband to pull out a bloody great deadly nightshade that had managed to hide itself in the middle of a bed.

Mistake.. he tugged and pulled and came out triumphant with Gruss an Aachen in his fist....

Ah well.. into the Seasol with the transplanters for a few hours and replant.

Mulched with pea straw, spread chook poo on the new layer bed.. It MUST rain some day to rot the lot down... SURELY it will rain.. hopefully...

Silkie Gardens Newsletter came.. read, and booked younger granddaughter in to their child's garden day on the 29th.

they do it well, show them how to plant, prune, different roses animal husbandry (they have Silkie chooks there,) give them morning tea, lots of other stuff, and Nana goes FREE!

I know she'll enjoy it as when we took her down to the State Rose Garden and we were locking the car she - as small kids do - shot through the gap in the hedge into the garden, and a minute later flew back out yelling to us "Come quickly and see! Oh, it's it's it's just BEAUTIFUL!" and shot off again...

Read Silkie's catalogue, phoned them and reminded them of their fate if I don't get Parole/Buxom Beauty, plus ordered a Queen Adelaide.. asked about the robust two-year-old ones their grower has sent that are too huge to go in eight inch pots so they are going out cheap.. (can't help myself...)

Poured more chook poo into thee big rubbish bin and topped it up with water to let it brew.. each rose gets a small bucket full in the growing season.

one clematis is growing like the clappers it's mate looks dead.. but Clemmies can do that sometimes...don't know if I get one to replace it or wait.. I am not the patient kind.. *sigh*

the one growing well is entwined with Mme Gregoire Steachlin (can never spell her - why don't people stick with Spanish Beauty? ) and boy do I love this rose.

Accidentally planted under an outside light.. in the black of night with the light shining on it, it's the stuff of fairy tales... with the clemmie added... well we'll see, I don't know if you...
