I know, I haven't been here in quite some time, what with a computer crash and the installation of a new one and all those horrible adds! I did now'n again post a note in the roses forum though. Anyway, I bought this no-name pink climber from a little ole lady at the local church fate last year to grow on my new garden arch; I suspected it was a Dorothy Perkins. This morning it's first bud opened and I looked it up in Botanica's (Pocket) Roses and the flower just does not resemble a D.P.. Further research suggests it more resembles 'Pompon de Paris', a minature climber very similar in habit to D. P. but reaching only 3 metres instead of D.P's 6. Can anyone through any further light on it please?

I can't help you with the name Bill, but it is a pretty little rose.and with the buds coming it wil make a nice show.

Thanks Chas, I suspect it's more an old variety than a new one. It has a scent, which I'd describe, I think, as slightly 'fruity' but whether or not it is a repeat flowerer I'll just have to wait and see. It growing in with the deep blue clematis 'Polish Spirit' and if they do put out flowers at the same time, i think it'll be a nice show. It is now bearing heaps of buds.

I finally found a rose in Botannicas Pocket book on roses that goes by the name, 'Renae'. They describe it as 'a modern cluster flowered climber, medium pink, repeat flowering,. etc.' The picture and describtion very closely resemble mine, so maybe unless someone can advise otherwise, I think I'll settle for that. Thanks Chas and Tuppito.
