Karyn, I wouldn't have guessed Ligustrum, but I can clearly see it now. I have three Ligustrum japonicum in my front yard that are shapped into three balls each, one ball on top of the other. Right now they badly need trimming again. They call them "privet" here. It should be easy for you to find one in a nursery. Seeds, I don't know. I went outside and took a pic for you. Well, it's about time you posted a post, Chas. Just joking, of course. By the way, do you grow raspberries where you are? I love 'em but they're 7 bucks a punnet here in the supermarket; even dearer than blueberries, which are currently 2 for 6 bucks. unfortunately it isn't cold enough in winter for many of the berries to set fruit in my climate; about the best I can do is grow dwarf mulberries - I've just planted a tree this season. Oh, and maybe strawberries but the bloody birds gobble up all of them and I can be bothered with mucking around with nets and stuff. B

From your description, this is likely Glochidion ferdinandi, named commonly in the literature as either the Cheese tree or also as an umbrella tree. The main common name comes from the seed pods which look like miniature pumpkins or cheese rounds [hence the name]. The leaves looks like they could be a lillypilly, but are not related. Inside the the fruits are tiny red angular seeds. The trees will also sucker - said to be from damage to roots, but mine like to sucker and - like most of our rainforest/dry rainforest species here in SE Qld - loves to multi trunk. Seasonal insect predation can be a problem, but the first specimen I saw was the most glorious and densest shade tree I have ever seen, with no insect damage. These grubs can be controlled with your usual chemical sprays, but also with a spray or soil drench made up of good quality formulated Neem Oil and water, If you need more info, contact me.
