i am looking for ylang-ylang seeds. could you tell me where you got them from?

ty Kris, besides just putting them in potting mix, do they need anything special? Heat, humidity, cold, what? (I consider you the authority on Ylang Ylang seeds Kris lol)

Skymag- do you live in Germany or live in qld? lol... I got them in a trade. I got quite a few. I was going to try and grow a couple of them. Are you familiar with them? Know how to grow them? Email me.

Lilly to get your Canaga odorata ;Ylang Ylang to grow really well , you will have to heat a glass house to full tropical conditions all winter , as any drop below 15 C will set it back or kill them .

i know its kind of confusing: i do live in germany, but i want the seeds for a friend who lives in north-queensland.
i tried to buy seeds online but it nobody had them.
i am not familiar with the trees but i think they grow well in queensland.

How bout it Kris, can you get seeds to skymag's friend? I am not familiar with Australia, but are you close to N. Qld? Did I say that right lol?

We propagated Ylang Ylang seed on a couple of occasions and found they came up okay. Winter did not seem to worry them unduly in the shadehouse (frost outside), but we found on many of the young seedlings the remnants of the seed case was attached to the top of the young plant, if it was not removed they collapsed and died. Removing it took great care and a steady hand. The surviving seedlings then grew successfully.
Best of luck with them. It is a great tree, the perfume of the flowers a real delight.

I have grown many Ylang Ylang trees from seed. Someone commented about 3 months! Yes, thats how long it takes, sometimes even a little more, depending on the heat of the days and nights.

I make 'furrows' in my pots about 1/2" deep. Place the seeds in them, cover them up and put the pot in the shade outside along with all my others and water them regularly. No point checking them every day as it gets frustrating!!! Sooner or later those little seedlings pop up! I'm not too good at transplanting quickly, so wait for them to be about 6 to 8" before I transplant into another larger pot, each pot then has only one plant. Again, patience is required....Pot up as they grow and after about a year you can be sure they will survive in the ground. They love sun. Grow quite tall, but they can be cut down to whatever size you want them to be, heigh-wise. Just remember NEVER to cut more than 1/3 of the trees height at a time, as it will go into shock and possibly die. If you want to trim it lower, wait a year and you can cut a further 1/3. Hope this helps

Hey ! I have been very successful in growing Ylang Ylang Tree from seed. I use the old fashion method. Nick the seed soak it in diluted liquid seaweed for 48 hrs. wrap it in a damp paper towel place it on the dryer and finish up that laundry.. The quickest I have had germinate is 5 1/2 weeks.

Found this forum by googling how to grow ylang ylang trees....so i joined...i have already pricked off the seed coat from my one lone sprout! Great advice, thanks. Now I need to know what a seedling looks like...and see if I have any coming up as volunteers...anybody can post a photo of a baby? like new born???

I have a ylang ylang tree but the flowers have only just started to bloom, so no seeds as yet, but when I get some, anyone is welcome to have some. I live in the Caribbean, so the temperature is right for this plant

I found a whole bunch of seedlings....planted them in pots...but now I don't think they are them. It's funny because I have 2 trees and these things are coming up under both. I now am finding what I think are the real seedlings and since I have been wandering around and looking closely I am finding some older volunteers, as well as new sprouts. The fruits have been dropping for months. I put some whole fruits in pots next to other plants. In one of them up sprouted 3. So this helps with the ID. I also just found a brand new sprout that had the seed cover...so I am getting close to solving my mystery.

The reason I am so avid about it is I want to sell these trees to people in my town. They are hard to find.
