I agree with ginnibug, diversity in leaves is what really makes the plants attractive since most of the year they don't have flowers. I have one of the miniatures where the entire plant is no more than an inch-and-a-half tall. Variety is Seiryujishi. But my problem is that although the plants grow very well here in north Florida, the hot summers tend to prevent it from blooming except just occasionally; my Neo falcata plants can go years between blooms.

Thanks for the welcome Mike. I've read up on how much of a hard time you are having with your Meyer trees, and I wish you luck. I'm growing a Ponderosa lemon, and it takes about 3-4 days for it to dry out. Though I did buy a Meyer Lemon for my mother for Christmas. She has had it since the beginning of December though. So far she says its growing great, she had a few buds. It is watered once a week, a very deep watering and it is allowed to drain out fully. It lives in the south window of her bathroom, where there is a ton of sun during the day, and it is humid. Her soil is about 60% CHC, and 40% potting soil. So far it has not dropped one leaf. But on my front so far so good, the Mandarine has three buds and a ton of new growth, the miracle fruit had maybe 20 buds, and even the poderosa lemon is starting to grow, and i've only had them one week. I spray all of them with filtered water about 4-5 times a day, due to the fact that i am growing them at work, and it's a nice distraction. Also nice is that the 400Watt grow light had free electricity :)

John: Funny thing is the leaves do look almost the same but I can assure you this one is a Moro! I NEVER smelled such a heavy, strong, perfumed and heavenly scent such as this one! I was washing off the leaves yesterday in the shower and 1, just 1 bloom fell off. I never got around to cleaning the tub until today and that one bloom, mind you with just one pedal left has the whole tub area smelling sweet. Amazing. I also have one other type of Navel little tree that smells as strong as that. I whiff it, and then I smell that fragrance linger as I walk all the way back into my house from the greenhouse as if the plant followed me. Josh: You certainly have something great to look forward too. I can't wait:-) Patty: You are right on in that department for fragrance, after whiffing probably thousands of citrus trees in your lifetime. I do agree that other than the infamous 'Lemon Meyer', my Grapfruit and Oranges trees by far surpass my lemones and limes in the fragrant catergory. Tim: Now that is a huge bumnmer. Who would of thought that? I was always under the impression that there is 'NO' bad place in California to grow anything. There has to be a solution.:-) Mike

Hey Josh! Feeling a bit better today? I hope so. I have been worried about you:-) Tmc, there are a few ways to rid scale once and for good. Some with horticultural oils, others with alchohol, and yet others systemically. Of course I am an all natural person as much as I can be until there is nothing else that will work. To treat and rid scale effectively, it would be nice to first identitfy the species. Knowing the type of scale you have can be very effective since there are hundeds of different types. Is it possible to see a pic since some are not hindered by alchohol or oil treatments. Some do carry their eggs while others lay their eggs under their protective scale covers. Is it possible to get a picture, so one of our pest experts like 'Rhizo' can properly identify and we can go from there? If it is cottony cushion scale, it can be treated effectively with alchohol, this pest usually being the culprit in the past in my case. Make sure you mist every nook and cranny and repeat application after a couple of days. Please give us a pic if you could? Mike
