to whom it may apply to.

the idea of garden web is to help each other when we have problems. this site appears to have a lot of dead wood and should be pruned out during the dormant season which is all year long by the look of it.A VISIT TO THE CORNUCOPIA SITE WILL GET YOU ALL BACK ON TRACK. THE PEOPLE THAT ARE AT CORNUCOPIA ALLWAYS BEND OVER TO HELP EACH OTHER. BE IT ADVICE,OR SHOWING THEIR RESULTS AT GROWING, BE IT GOOD OR BAD, THEY STICK TOGETHER AND HELP EACH OTHER.HOPE THIS THINS OUT THE DEAD WOOD.

Well I have gone to another website as I am sick of the way some of those on this Forum answer my Posts.

This other web site is made in Australia by an Australian and so much friendlier and NO ADS

Almost has a button where you can complain about posts if you want.

Not like this one since it has had new owners people can type anything and get away with it.

I dont start up a post here anymore but I do reply to others if I know the answer even yours..Cheers..MM.

Of the ones you list I have Peace, Oklahoma and Dainty Bess. I had Cl. Peace and shovel pruned it because, although it grew to 8 feet tall, it never bloomed. I mean never. In 6 years I got a total of ONE flower on it. My regular Peace is about 3 X 3 feet and blooms nicely in flushes but it does black spot. There is usually some cane die back form winter so it starts out fairly short in the spring. Oklahoma has been fairly slow growing and is still under 3 feet high. Another spotter but it does bloom well. It also needs deep pruning in the spring from die back. Dainty Bess gets about 5 X 5 and blooms best in the spring but does give me a few blooms all season. She can spot too though. This one is cane hardier and rarely needs much more than tip pruning in the spring.

What causes yellowing of some roses following spring bloom?

Peachie, I've noticed with my roses (mostly teas but others, too) that after the flush and the flower is spent the bush starts putting out new growth, and the leaf at that growth node will turn yellow (and here get some blackspot). I understand that the rose is pumping its energy into the new growth and away from the old leaf so the old leaf loses its green and drops off to be replaced with nice new green leaves. All my roses do this (but not so much Mrs B R Cant & Mme Abel C). I don't consider it disease - just a cycle of growth. Maybe others will have different opinions. Sherry

Chey, I have tried or have all the roses on your list and they're all worth a try in zone 6. The ones that I've been unsuccessful at overwintering in zone 5, and might be small or slow to recover from winter in zone 6 are: Blossomtime, Chartreuse de Parme (even in my zone 6 spot), Buxom Beauty, La Rose de Molinard, and surprisingly Ilse Krohn Superior. Clarence House hasn't been through a winter yet, but I have high hopes for him. Yolande d'Aragon has now survived in my zone 6 pocket and she's staying because of the potential for those vivid highly scented blooms, but she stands out to me for the astonishing persistence of the "damask crud" on her leaves even though I'm usually oblivious to leaf spots and other irregularities. From mid-summer on, I have to regard her leaves as at least partly brown (not blackspot, but the brown splotchiness that damasks and HPs can get), and we don't have particularly high disease pressure in NE because we're relatively dry. Louise Odier has survived several zone 5 winters but doesn't grow very tall or bloom very often. When she does, the blooms are lovely. Sonnenwelt is still a bit new for me too, but I've already seen some blooms on that one and it looks very promising as a rose in the first year. "Keepers" for me would be enthusiastic thumbs up for Bliss and Jacques Cartier, both of which put out puffy pink blossoms off and on all summer with good health and hardiness. JC being a good bit taller than the compact Bliss. I am one of those that likes Madame Anisette and I agree that she needs a few years to grow into her best characteristics. She blooms reasonably well and often in part sun, which already endears her to me. Kiss Me Kate is also new for me in spring, and I'm expecting her to mature slowly as well. I've heard that her blooms nod a lot, but as a climber that's not always a bad thing. And I had a fleeting moment with Augusta Luise from Vintage some years ago but she wasn't particularly hardy in our winters. I have successfully ordered her along with the other raving AL maniacs this spring, and she gets the most protected of my tea rose spots accordingly. Cynthia

Roughie, unless you are referring to something completely different (please share if you are), the GW cornucopia forum is about growing fruit and vegies. This forum is specifically for roses. I don't think a discourse on roses would be at all appropriate over there.
The way garden web works is, it leaves unanswered posts up so they might be answered some time in the future. I have seen many, many forums on the internet that have conversations that are spread out over years, or go unanswered for months. You can't FORCE an answer. You just have to wait, or go and google for an answer or look up a book.
I come here for an interesting read, to see what others are doing in their gardens, and occassionally to ask a question. If I see something I can answer, then I go ahead. I personally would not like to see any form of culling of threads, other than the present system of dropping off when they reach the last page.
I know are not a regular, and that you had an unanswered post here a while back. I have just reread it, and feel that if you had posted it in a more clear way, and not using capital letters, then someone might be more inclined to answer it properly. It is a long standing tradition on the internet that capital letters denote anger or yelling, and it is also very difficult to read fluently.
There are times of the year when this forum gets very interesting and other times when it slows right down. The cornucopia forum is interesting but I don't generally participate in discussion of growing vegetables. My Father was always good for a bash about the vegie garden, and now my daughters are right into it. It's a bit like talking about housework but more interesting. My feelings are that keen gardeners don't generally spend that much recreational time on the computer. They have busy lives. I'm only here because I work at the computer, and GW breaks the monotony. I'm my own boss, so I can do that.
