Does anyone know where it might possible to obtain Musella lasiocarpa? I think they look amazing and would make a great addition to my subtropical themed garden. Any ideas?

If its a banana you would have no hope of getting one here in Queensland..
And even less over there in WA...

Its a pity, because these are very popular in the UK and US, so why is Australia so restrcitive? We don't all like natives. lol

I have three nice size ornamental musella lasiocarpa (yellow lotus banana)which are very cold tolerant. About 3 winters ago the bloom carried over the winter from October until Spring and resumed blooming. I am looking for : Tropicals Peonies (anything but white) Alocasia Machrorrhiza Variegated (white/green) clerodendrum speciossum (red) Other clerodendrums - I already have glorybower and bleeding heart vine. Australian red Waratah Monarda Jacob Klein Hydrangea macrophylla Harlequin (pink with white picotee) Hydrangea macrophylla Sabrina Hydrangeas with extra large mophead blooms. Please, let me hear from you.

I know, but given how sensitive our banana industry is maybe its for the best. Why can't we just import bananas from the Phillipines?

Apparantly, the Musella Lasiocarpa now in Aust.took 4 years to get through Quarantine and is far superior to what is available in USA. It's been a bloody long-wait. In reference to the above comments. Qld and N.T and northern N.S.W will never allow this plant in. WA may eventually, but its gonna take a while. And it looks like you may get your wish adamharbeck: The ignoramus Biosecurity have ignominiously done a backflip on phillipino bananas- this is absolutely devistating news for the aussie banana industry and for the now unusual notion of keeping some aussie money and jobs in Australia.
