I have a plant in my greenhouse that I started from seed about 3 years ago. The label says Jasmine stephanotis florebunda. It really didn't grow much until this summer and I got tired of looking at it in the greenhouse and put the pot outside. My puppy dragged it around in the yard so finally brought it back into the greenhouse. Today I was cleaning the greenhouse up (its been a dump and run) since early summer. It has really grown and I noticed the leaves looked just like my hoya so came in the house to look it up in the computer and saw that the plants are related. Now instead of a regular pot I am going to have to change to a hanging pot. My hoya bloomed for the first time this summer although I didn't notice much smell from the flowers. Ellie

Gee Somebody read my mind lol. Was just going to start a thread on the correct way to grow Steph..My experience seems about like others. Grows and flowers just not very well. Puglvr See your growing in a pot which is where I had the best luck with mine. My last move was into the shadehouse on the east side planted directly in the soil. Gets runoff from fert given to orchids but still just limps along lol Find it rather disgusting as a nursery near me grows one up the side of the office and it flowers so much it obscures the leaves.several times a year so I know it can be done. I gets dappled shade improved soil, regular water . Big deal I've done all that lol. Oh well ,If I live long enough maybe I'll find the secret for my yard?? gary

As the seeds separate from their cone like state, you can pot them the way you'd do any seed. Use a fine seedling soil and cover the seed, not burying it too deeply. Keep moist, not soaking wet, and warm; wait for them to germinate. I didn't have any problem with 'damping off' and when the tiny seedlings had two sets of leaves I put them in bright light. As they became a bit larger and strong, I transplanted into peat pots usually three to a pot. Settle them in with a watering of root stimulator and watch them grow! Have fun, happy growing! Sheila

@Just Started(Sydney) This vine seems to be easy to grow from seed, at least the germination rate is pretty high. I don't think you need to protect Madagascar Jasmine from Sydney's sunshine, the flowering one I was showing here gets all year round sun inc. summer's 40 degrees and doesn't complain a bit
