Windy, I should stick some flags in my snow for color, lol. I'm already tired of winter, but at least my plants are dormant. We got snow a couple of weeks ago, and it's still coating most of my yard. Sprinklers are off, hoses are disconnected, ground is frozen. I'm up high enough in the mountains for it to be 30s during the day and 20s at night, but not high enough to be above our smoggy winter inversion layer. ~cough~ The best color these days happens after dark -- Christmas lights!

My newly arrived tropical hibiscus 'Fiery Furnace' with the first flower open and with another about to. I really love it and am glad I didn't miss out on this one again this year. If you can believe it, this is the winter 'bleah' coloration. It is deep red in the center, then purple, brown, red, orange and yellow. But in summer the colors will really sizzle with more red, stronger yellow ring and often more purple - complete with random splashes of pale cream splattered over the petals in occasional streaks. I can hardly wait to see it in all it's glory.

Back yard succulents:gift from my sister, no ID for this, but it now has yellow in the center. I used to know the name of this one, but I can't find it. It does make nice flowers, however, and it gets pinkish tips in the winter. I think it is a stoeberia, possibly arborea.Beaucarnea-recurvata: new leaves are reddish. In my front yard:Aeonium with yellow flowers. Most of the color I have in the winter comes from orchids and bromeliads (plus a salvia), as in this photo:All of these photos were taken today.

Thank you for your response. When i bought this old place it was so overgrown with i’m not sure what, saved this little bush, it is on the east side of the house. I just went out to get a few more pictures, trying to get the leaf pattern too. I will take better care of this which i should have before. Meant to trim back this last fall but did not. Here is another photo, i looked up the quincy, very well could be? If i know what it is, i’ll research and know how to care for it, thank you
