Comments (4)To the best of my knowledge, grape aren't self-pollinating, so this is the only reason I could figure also. But why lavender in particular? It *is* fragrant and there are lots of flowers, but this is also true of other plants. Oh well. Just wondering....See Morerainy days and cold nights...happy plants

Comments (8)I would let it be since they will grow in similar way anyway. All you can do is make sure they are getting excellent light to keep leaves compact. If you don't like it as it grows, keep beheading...soon you'll have many new plants. (Btw, wouldn't dental floss eventually cut into stem as it leans more and gets bit heavier with age?) It also pups quite well - you already have some. I would give it it's own pot - it may be full soon :)...See More“Happy Plants” - what are yours?
Comments (6)Love zinnias, too! Great suggestions. Yeah, my main beds were very poorly designed, sort of just thrown together. I’m completely revamping them this year, with a lot more thought to seasonal interest and drought tolerance. I’m just getting into grasses. Hostas, unfortunately, while featuring largely in my shade beds, were looking pretty poorly even in full shade during this hot, dry summer. They didn’t stand a chance in the sun. And I fully intend to get some hellebores! Love the look of them. ‘Rooguchi’ has been highly recommended. There’s also a dark purple large flower variety that I think is Jackmanii at a local zoo we frequent that has been flowering most of the summer, and looks great. What a lovely hibiscus. There’s a hardy hibiscus (looks like moscheutos) in a nearby field that surprisingly flowered despite the drought. I was amazed that it was even alive. The field appears to be the remains of a long ago garden. There’s a row of giant alliums, a really pretty rose of Sharon, some irises, creeping phlox, and other things. The survival of some things, like the irises, aren’t surprising at all. With some of the others, though, it’s really neat to see them flourishing against all the odds....See More- 10 years ago
