Its in a plastic orchid pot and is just placed in the bigger pot for looks and to stabilize it since its so tall. I thought the same thing about the price! They had all different kinds for really cheap. All huge and nothing over $10. I should have got 2 but Im not really good at orchids yet and wasn't sure about how well it would do. Thanks for the advice. I really like this plant and want it to do well. How often do these rebloom? Ive never been able to get my phals to rebloom before :(

Thank you for the kind words. Sarah, the little white flowers are annual paludosum daisies from seed. I'm already starting to tear them out as they succumb to age and mildew. I have not found anything to replace them with for the summer- I try to plant little white vincas, but they do not thrive here like the daisies. Renee

The hundreds and hundreds of available phals are not at all like your once in a lifetime rare jewels of orchids, LOL! and just like rare gems they are only up for a rare specialized display instead of "costume jewelry flaunts" hahahaha! Jane, I am also jealous of what is behind those kitchen cabinets too! All this cooking equipment and cutlery to die for! His knives are from a famous Japanese producer of samurai swords, hahaha! Sheesh! I want that cutlery!!!! LOL!

Your roots look ok. I would not use just any bark of any tree. You need to buy orchid bark. Can you buy online? Alternatively, you can keep it in moss, but should transplant into a terra cotta pot with drainage. Where in the world do you live? What are your growing conditions? One thing at a time. If you choose to repot, cut the bloom stem and dust cinnamon on the end. Then repot. Find a spot in your home or outside with temps 60-80F with 50% or more humidity in bright, indirect light. See how it responds. Keikis are not desired - that means the plant is dying.
