I believe Betsy W is a huge fan and had great things to say about this rose in a previous post, certainly inspired me to add Violina to my wish list - you will have to let us know how it goes, Betsy said it had a tendency to ball.

yep, I'm a fan of this one fpr its extraordinary vigor, bush shape and health. It lives up to the swing tag hype, for sure - except that no one in Kordes Marketing mentioned that it does indeed ball like Kleenex in a downpour. Tell you what, though, I think this could one day be a widely recommended landscape rose - has most of the other virtues required of a hedging rose, especially if you want a BIG hedge. I love the waterlily comparison; myself, I tend to think of it as remontant camellia with fragrance.

Before I become known as the chief exponent of Violina, I should just qualify my endorsement: If you're new to roses, this one is not for you. V is a really, really good all-rounder, and a novelty for those richly rose-endowed, like Fran, or anyone looking at roses from a landscape point of view. V does everything well, but nothing exceptionally well, if you know what I mean. She is a solid girl, with nice fragrance and excellent health/growth. Vase rosies - skip it, although she'll fill a vase for a dinner party or floral emergencies

I've only had Violina since spring but have been most impressed. Good strong bushy growth, only a couple of leaves with black spot, lots of flowers and good perfume. Saw a good example of Violina (along with many other roses) at Magic Garden Roses last week. Magic place.

Mine has only just gone into the ground a few months and here's a vase of her blooms recently. I like her softly ruffled shape - she's a winner for me for cut flowers. I should've bought 2 when i was last at Magic Garden Roses. The scent isn't as strong as advertised but maybe that will come with time.
