I wrote an email to David Austin roses asking about Summer Song and received a very nice reply which said "it does not seem that Summer Song will thrive here in our US climate so this variety will not be released here." Well, that answers my question! Nice to know it wasnt my fault. Wish I cold find a rose with similiar coloring - does anyone know one? Brown Velvet comes to mind....I might try that. Maybe this color rose just doesnt do well in the heat. I have Hot Cocoa and Cinco de Mayo, which are similiar but not that lovely burnt orange like SS. Not everything grows well in all climates so will just have to concentrate on what does well here.

Agree with Camp. This is a rubbish rose for sure. Resents pruning; the cane will die back with black growth. Had one nice bloon all year; the rest were small and not much to speak about. I'm not impressed with SS at all; mine's slated for the compost pile in the Spring. I've given it 3 years and it's time to go and make room for new Palatine arrivals.

Anything but a pink one is what I would say to that question... the orange colour can be quite strong, and I just think it wants something more contrasting,... red/white/purple/yellow... not pink...
