Kristen, since they have no need to be rushed into a large pot.....which would not do well by their emerging roots, I suggest you go up only to a 4" pot until you are ready to put them outside in May. Such a sized pot will do nicely by your seedlings. They can be best kept in a moist state--no danger of overwatering in the small pot, less chance of rotting or mildew. Fertilizing can be better controlled for the size of the cutting.

I find that the biggest problem with transplanting into too large of a container is that the medium remains too wet for too long since the root structure isn't there to drink it up. That said, I don't think it will make much difference between 3" and 4" pots. I'd go for the 4" ones (or whatever you have already lying around). If you are concerned that the medium won't dry quickly enough, keep a fan on them and it will help dry things out as well as get them used to the 'wind'.

A couple of years ago I used a 35 gallon trash can. I filled a 5 gallon bucket full of SP during harvest. It was awesome and they were delicious. I used Al Tapla's 5-1-1 mix recipe for the soil.

Although most of my citrus is in the ground I am using 20 inch pots from Costco for my kiwis, raspberry, blueberries and blackberry. My wife likes the look of them so they work well. I wouldn't want to move them inside for the winter though.
