Lily Pillys & pittosporums

I have just moved in to a new place and the last owners never pruned the hedge. As such they have long bare trunks and 6 metres tall. I have given them a severe chop to about 10 feet. Do you think they will come good or will they need to be removed?

If you haven't pruned below the leaf line they should recover ok. Once they show new growth you could even go lower so long as you have leaves and nodes from which new growth can shoot.

With pittosporums, you can cut the whole thing off at the base and it still grows back, in my experience.
I don't know about lily pillies, though.
I reckon just leave them be and if they're not doing anything by October, get rid of 'em.

Nice list, thanks! I have a dog, so the indoor plants I have are nontoxic: an african violet, a nontoxic fern, culinary herbs in hubby's Aerogarden, and a goldfish plant (which I love!! It is so cool looking.) Used to have a Persian violet which was fabulous and fragrant-- smelled great for about 2 months, but it eventually finished flowering, sickened and died. Hi again, If you are interested in some of my seeds, please give me your trade list and your email address so that I can contact you. I am not interested in SASE. I donate most of my extra seeds to my "Seeds for Classrooms" program that I arranged with the local school board and schools (6,000 pkg a couple months ago).
