I'm sooo jealous! I've always wanted to raise a few but I am not allowed to. Peacocks are originally from India but we're not allowed to raise them or keep them in enclosures. Why? because they're our National Bird!Waaaaah! :(

When I used to stay over at my daughter's farm, I loved to get up very early in the morning, cuppa in hand, and sit on her back porch steps and watch the mist rise as the sun warmed the valley up. You could hear the pea fowl from the dairy farm adjoining. He had a whole flock of them and they set up quite a racket. I asked the dh if I could get a couple, and he said no. Just like he said no to a sow, and no to the dairy goats. No to another horse and nixed the geese I raised, and found them new homes. He also said no to the chickens, but they happened anyway. LOL.

Thanks ! I've already gotten farther on it since this picture. . The gems are things I bought long ago . They're domed and pattererned . They look like fancy buttons. ( Hard to describe ) This hunk of wood is heavy ! It's about 20" square. I sure hope this turns out .

just wait for it to start screeching LOL. you will be letting the dogs out to chase it off! couple yrs ago i had a big residential installation on Lake Dora, very exclusive neighborhood and my client was a bigtime luxury home builder. first day on the job all i heard was this horrible screaming noise, it was constant and inescapable i honestly thought it was screaming monkeys lol. some people in FL keep exotic monkeys. on the second day, my crews pointed out to me it was several peacocks, the homeowner actually told my guys they could kill some for him. apparently some neighbor had a few and now there are close to 100, roosting all over this beautiful wooded area. ~ liz
