I am so sorry that I appear to have gazumped Alison (to whom I owe a reply to some messages -- she'll know what I mean).

I can honestly say I was unaware of her posting. I opened this post about 2 hours ago and it was sitting there while I went off to make my dinner. In the meantime the connections in the brain came together, resulting in my reply. Only then did I see Alison's posting.

I don't feel gazumped, I simply forgot to check back on this post - (busy trying to re-instal the anti-virus that I so *cleverly* managed to un-instal).
I might have finally remembered the "Freckles", the markings reminded me of the pic on a seed pack I was once tempted by, and which obviously came to nothing.
Thank goodness we have John & others succeeding with such little treasures, it really is pretty.
Now your turn to post Tony and I know you will have something very teasing to put up when you do (and incidentally you don;t really owe me a reply but the thing I mentioned is 7th May and still on if interested_
And John, (forgive me hi-jacking this) if you go over to the Perennials and Annuals section I will post a question about violets which you might help with
