I'm considering growing a few Neem trees on some fallow, black, alkaline, cotton ground on south Texas's coastal plane . It's nearly frost free. Fresh Seed from India runs $15 lb ( August ) plus Phyto and shipping . Anyone out there have in experience with this tree ?

Oh dear, guess this plant won't be started from seeds after all. I did read that it would grow from seeds, so that's why I asked. Thank you all for your responses. At this time, it's too expensive for me to buy. D'Ann ~ I will email you about your offer. Gary ~ I didn't know about this vine a year ago. : -) Thanks again everyone, I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question. FlowerLady

T.fortunei cv Tesan is rare.Plus we got Cycad miquelii, Cycas micholitzii and Cycas segmentifida which are rare too .David, the rahpis seeds I got was picked last December and so still they are fresh. I am looking for Trachycarpus wagnerianus.

I only use clay containers with my succulents, cacti, bromeliads, and orchids. Everything else is plastic. As for coir (had to look that up), seems like its a coconut fiber based alternative to peat (also the stuff I use to line my hanging baskets). As a soil additive, I'm sure it's fine but I assume there is more in the soil than coconut fiber (which is relatively sterile and has no nutrition). Thing to keep in mind with palms, is that they tend to prefer soils with a high humus content and also have excellent drainage. P.S., While you are thanking God, you can also thank your lucky stars that your winter was also keeping your bamboo in check. In climates where it is evergreen, it goes from being a love to a love/hate relationship if not worse.
