Michael G. If this bush were a typical neat and tidy Hybrid Tea or floribunda, what you say is correct. However, it is a messy gallica that spreads by suckering. There are 25 (or more) canes. There may be 2 to 3 (or more) rosebushes? I have found suckers that send up shoots 1 to 2 to even 3 ft away from the parent bush. I see the top shoot, dig down about 6 inches to even 1 foot and I pull and pull. Sometimes the root breaks off and sometimes I cut the root. If cutting, I know the root will grow back. I used to save them, but began throwing them away, as too many. On the surface layer, on top of all this, hips drop with seeds. I let many hips form - bright red/orange, round balls. Sometimes I collected hips in Nov, but I left some. Ann Peck in TN suggested, "At eight to nine years, I'd expect that the many pollinated hips would have dropped and you might be seeing a seedling. Good dense roses can drop seeds that don't get eaten, especially if the hips don't drop until early the following spring. (Winter and fall hip drop feeds rodents in my gardens.)" Therefore since the bloom is very different from r. gallica officinalis, with which I started at the beginning, I think I have a new rosebush. Someday, if needed, someone can dig up the rosebed and perform an autopsy, to check which roots go with which bush. That will be a big job! Hi! Thanks for your replies! While I was searching online, I came across mealy bugs which sounded right since they attach and suck sap. But they looked nothing like what I saw in the pic. It didn't have legs like they have in the first pic I saw. The ones in the link that msmarieh posted look closer to what I saw, only mine were smaller. So maybe they were very immature? I also didn't see any cottony stuff on the leaves. But maybe its very early since I check them often. I will do more research on them and look for more suggestions. Another thing that I am concerned about is if the spearmint is safe to use? Should I cut away all the sticky leaves and branches? I'm going to try to spray the plant with the water hose today to see what I can remove. A majority of the leaves have those "white things" on them. I can't get my camera to zoom in enough to show what's on the leaves. I was out all day yesterday so i haven't even seen it since I posted this question. Also, do you think the DE will help if they are mealy bugs? Thanks for you help! I appreciate it!

No, it won't stop. Now that you are full up you will start weeding out your less favorites or duplicates and become more discriminating and more of a "collector". If I were you Dannie I would talk to a greenhouse in your area before I started digging up and re-planting my hosta. In your zone they may benefit from being buried a bit deeper. "If it ain't broke don't fix it"!! I have all mine marked with a metal juice container lid or plastic edging piece. This way I know where they are long before I see the eyes. Some varieties come to life much later than others. I have given away many a gold standard and 90% of the time the neighbor tells me the following spring "it didn't make it" and I tell them give it time. They always show up!

Something interesting I discussed with the Miami store was the possibility of mixing the CC colors. None of those pastels appeals to me, right out of the can. But, I thought about using the gray to knock the blue or green down a bit. He said it was doable. I still don't think I will paint my cabs though. They're such crummy quality, it hardly seems worth the effort. Maybe I should think about eventual re-sale. Or just do the bathroom vanity for fun and to get that leveling experience. Geez, I can't believe I paint for entertainment!
