thanks MM...I just need to work out how to get those lovely long stems you see in florists, garden stores etc...mine doesn't grow past about 10-15cm or so

It also hasn't spread like my old-fashioned gerberas do (ie it's still one single plant)...do you know if this sort of gerbera doesn't have that type of behaviour? How are they propagated?

Hi Maria There are different kinds of Gerbera I only have two kinds these huge doubles with flowers as big as saucers my lovely neighbour gives them to me when she divides hers they have real long stems easy 30cms could be more..If you look at this Pic you will see its not that far from the soil but it was given to to me in mid December and this was its first flower.. My older ones have very tall stems.

Then there are these singles that I bought in a punnet about two years ago from Bunnings they have very tall stems also and they are multiplying so thickly.. Dont forget Gerbera's love the sun they dont like the shade at all..

Here is a pic below of one of those Single Gerbera's plants up top. My neighbour also has some small rounded petals plants like your yellow one and they have very short stems also, sorry I dont know their names...Hope this has been of some help....Cheers...MM.

thanks MM...yes, I have those single type too, and they are multiplying quite happily. That first gerbera you show is a beauty! It makes quite a bold statement!
