Glad to hear your ankle is getting better Siam. Your plight brings back memories of undergrad school in Mississippi. My advisor headed the herpetology dept and he coopted his advisees to work in his population studies...i.e. collecting. It was a little creepy initially but you learn to have sharp eyes and be really careful...and growing up in the region I was sort of used to the critters. I don't have red torch anymore (I traded it all away lasy season) but I have a potential division of Etlingera fulgens (also known as Heiroglyphica) for the right trade. This is classified as a "tulip torch". The flowers are not as large as the pink and red torch but are just as nice, and the leaves have a kind of iridescent sheen.

Will this species survive as a deciduous plant outdoors in 8a. I do have several species of bamboo available if it can be to trade. Thanks Chris

Hi Gaza, Sexy Pink and Torch Ginger will flower in pot, provided the pot is large enough.However, flowering will be less profuse and less frequent if you are comparing pot culture to those planted to the ground,where more space is given for the rhizome to develop properly.
