Oh. I know! That's just what I thought when I saw it. I was wondering what to do if I wanted to use it.... thought I'd have to construct some type of a pedestal :) Perhaps no one else knew what to do with it & why it was put out by the roadside :) I'm just hoping it is worth at least my time in picking it up and holding it in storage for awhile until I decide what to do with it.

So its likely hand made not machine made which can increase its value. The deal is any rug that size for $125 is a good deal. If you're buying it as an investment to resale for a profit you will likely get your money back if it turns out it isnt worth much. If you buy it have it appraised and find out its worth a lot then you can resale it for its worth with an appraisal certificate. If you're buying it because you love it then good for you , you got a large rug for a excellent price.

It's Waterfall from the 1930's or 1940's. I have a Waterfall bedroom set. I am repurposing the vanity into night stands to flank the bed and reusing the armoire and dresser for my remodel. I had to get rid of the bed awhile ago as it's a double. If you want to sell it, the best way is to advertise on craigslist. You can do a search for Art Deco or Waterfall and see what the pricing is. It makes more sense to see if a friend can use it or donate it to a charity. I gave away loads of furniture because the amount paid for used furniture that is no longer in style is quite low. Very few buyers and lots of stuff available. That a duplicate appeared in a movie scene adds no value to it. If it actually was a prop on the movie AND you have papers to prove the provenance, it would add value.

I have been doing some research & it seems that the price range for upholstered Bergere chairs goes from one extreme to the next, depending on the chair. I don't reckon that I will get a whole lot for it, but I also don't want to undersell entirely! Much appreciated, thank you again for all of your help! xx
