I have heard that if you can cut a Sloanea back they will coppice freely. This allows one to enjoy the flowers a bit more easily. In fact it has been suggested that they produce very good sprays for cut flowers. Has anyone done this or seen it done?
Hi Robert, Many Elaeocarpaceae have a biological mechanism for asexual growth. Ive seen many of the species suckering and producing basal shoots forming extensive patches of just 1 tree. They all grow from cuttings with a little skill. Ive got an Elaeocarpus johnsonii grown from a cutting it has brilliant bell flowers and is only 60cm tall.
