I am not the grape expert by any means, so I'm taking a rough stab, in the hopes that someone with a lot more grape knowledge than I have will correct my mistakes, but ... 1) Most grapes are on their own roots. Some, mostly Vitis vinifera and its hybrids (European wine grapes) are grated on rootstocks that are resistant to specific problems. 2) In Mass, I'd personally suggest trying either the old standards, Concord, Niagra, Delaware, or some of the newer American grapes. California type table grapes won't grow in colder climates, alas. 3) Seedless grapes are like seedless watermelons -- you find the random seed once in a while due, but not very often. Most of the seeds are tiny, soft, and undeveloped.

My Mammoth mums have since gotten quite large. Problem is that they flop like crazy once in bloom when it rains I jumped on the MM bandwagon and had great success with "Dark Pink Daisy". It was so floriferous in its first year last season. But as you have noted, I experienced similarly i.e. a complete flop while in full bloom last Fall. It easily survived this past harsh winter and it has been so vigorous this season. AND I have regularly pruned it all over thereby hoping to lessen the likelihood of another flop. I am actually debating right now whether to trim some more this week....getting a bit long into the summer...dont want to delay too long those amazzing flowers!

let the tree.. be the tree ... what you are seeing.. is that your potted plant was probably previously shaped ... and now it is outgrowing that shaping ... once fully established.. they are going to explode in all directions .... i suspect that these pinus strobus will start growing ... 3 to 5 feet in every direction very quickly ... and will never look like a xmas tree ... if you insist on shaping.. which you will only be able to do while it is short enough for your reach ... it is done in spring.. during bud elongation ... cutting them now... will kill that leader ... and a side branch will have to start a new leader.. and then you will not be happy ... i hope you understand that you have four future telephone poles .... they will easily be 35 footers within a decade [min 3 ft per year for 10 years plus the 4 you have right now ... give or take the extra foot] ... you see them everywhere here in MI .. planted in perfect groves lining out roads all over the upper and lower peninsula.. planted by the CCC in the 30's .... they are not really landscape plants in my opinion .... unless you have a sizable property .... i just paid a heck of a lot of money as the prior owner planted 5 of them too close to the house.... they are soft wooded.. and prone to severe damage from ice and wind storms .... properly planted in a large landscape .... they are wonderful trees .... good luck and happy new year ... ken

Can't get any better than that! Make sure you get on some of these great pre-season sales that are going on before the end of January! Hallson's, Hill's Gardens, High Meadow Hostas....to name a few. I've decided to do away w/ all lawn in the backyard and to do mulch paths w/ plants all around. I feel dizzy I'm so excited. LOL
