So your best chances are probably not letting it seed, and mowing with a catcher and bagging the remains. Having a long hot dry summer probably hasn't helped as many weeds survived at ground level when grass was not reaching mowable height and bare patches opening up.

I found this link that suggests hand digging the taproot is probably the best, or using an overdose of fertilizer.

Creeping indigo, I've never heard of it, a picture posted to this forum would help. Mind you, the only weeds I haven't been able to overcome by planting buffalo lawn is Onion weed. Even bindi's are beaten by buffalo. Try Sir Walter B. Available from Bunnings and other places. It's a very good lawn, but you do need to contain it.

I wanted to post that the trade does not have to be done in the largest flat rate box that ships for 12.95. It can be any box that is equal in size or larger as we all know flat rate is usually not the way to go. I sent a box of plants to someone yesterday that was literally 3 times the size of the largest flat rate box and it shipped for the exact same amount priority! I was shocked!!! She just wants to make sure the trades are equal ( meaning she will send at least as much that will fit in that particular box) and sent priority mail. Sorry for any confusion. God bless!

Well I'm NOT a blue person. Indoors I have NO blue. My husband doesn't understand this. I have no idea why I feel this way. Outdoors things are different! I have a blue/yellow/white garden bed which I love. Yes, delphineums, catananche, campanulas, baptisia and more, are mixed with trollius, coreopsis moonbeam, peony Claire de Lune and low growing white clematis and aquilegia. It is a big mix and wouldn't be any fun at all without the blue! There are loads of clematis that are purple or blue/purple, but also some very nice blues I think. You do get into the question of "what is blue?" My husband and I think this could well be a male/female issue! I've controlled it in certain areas by just digging up the tap root but in others it's extremely difficult.
I made a mistake in my original post by saying "lawn"... no such luck... it's just a "yard" and in certain areas, this weed has interwoven well and truly and it's almost impossible to find the original tap root.
I've been getting out in the late afternoon with my trusty garden stool and digger and just methodically going thru that bit of lawn, trying to track down that elusive tap root.

Cant say I've ever had that one, my most persistent is the old Wandering Jew (tradescantia, now called Wandering Dew, for obvious reasons). If yours was in my lawn (or garden) I'd hit it with a dose of Zero 490. Zero 490? 490 strength glyphosate, more affective than 360 strength Roundup, and quite safe as it dissipates in the soil. However, it will only work when applied directly to the plant, specifically the leaves, although it struggles against Wandering Jew - eventually you have to pull (dig) that out, and even then it will take some years to eradicate. I've been trying for 12 years and it still persists.

Why not hit it with some good ole Roundup (360 strength) Glyphosate, or better still, Zer0 490. That'll take care of it, roots and all, and Glypho. will not leave any residual effects in the soil.

but wouldn't Roundup and Zero kill everything around it as well? and, if it were that easy, why wouldn't the nurseryman have just told me that? It may be the tap root which is the problem. You have to get all the tap root out otherwise it just keeps growing. Maybe the Roundup etc doesn't get all of that?

Best method I use, is to pull up as many lateral runners as you can. This will give you the location of the tap root. Cut 90% of the runners off, pull away any grass runners that might come into contact of the tap root. Cut and paint a strong mix of herbicide (360 does the job).
Pulling the tap root can be done if the soil is damp but I prefer the chemical method as any tissue left behind will regrow
