Camellias/Limestone

I'm fairly new to gardening, and just bought a large amount of camellia sasansqua to fill a big (35m x 2m) retained area around our house which is south and east facing. The retaining wall is built out of limestone blocks and Someone told me that camellias would not grow alongside the limestone. I am getting compost to enrich the sandy loam soil as I plant them, and we have bore water. Does anyone know if I should go ahead and plant out or return the camellias and try something else?
