Fragrant Climbing Roses for South Facing Wall in WA

Jubbo

Hi there! We are building a new house and there is a lovely planter box in the elevation outside the master bedroom window. We would like to place a fragrant climber in this box and were thinking about a rose as they are fairly hardy and drought resistant.

The planter faces south-west, so will receive afternoon sun in the summer but I suspect not very much direct sunlight in the winter.

May I please ask for:

1. suggestions on possible fragrant climbing roses to suit this environment (if any?)

2. will the roots of roses become invasive to the rendered concrete planter? If YES, are there any precautions we should take at all please?

FYI - the planter box is constructed of rendered bricks and has dimensions of l=2290mm; width=230mm; height=455mm approx. So we have an approximate soil area of 0.24 cubic metres of soil.

With many many thanks and the absolute kindest regards
