what was the name of.....

that hideously expensive weed killer that targets nut grass only (and maybe one other, I think)

We talked about it ages ago.....something like $100 a litre????? I really don't remember but I do recall it was very, very expensive but that the reports said that it did work.

Hope, I didn't meant to alarm you! LOL... It may not be that at all. But I always check my plants when the leaves don't look right...just in case. And since you just brought this baby home, a thorough inspection wouldn't hurt. To check for spider mites, here's a simple, quick method: Place a blank, white piece of paper under a leaf of your plant and shake, shake, shake or tap, tap, tap the selected foliage. Small specks of dust and debris will fall onto the paper. Get up close and personal with the fallen debris on the paper and watch carefully (make sure the lighting is good where you view the sheet). Dust and dirt donÂt move but mites do! If spider mites are present, you will see tiny specks moving across the paper. Check more than one leaf, even healthy ones, to make sure your plant is mite-free. This simple but useful method is a technique that helps detect the presence of mites that canÂt be otherwise seen by the naked eye. You can also check the plantÂs leaves, stems, axils, etc, for fine webbing, which is a sure sign of mite infestation. Again, this is just a precaution! And it's good to rule out any pests for your plant's sake.

That is Callisia fragrans. It only developes the purplish streaks when you grow it hard-- in full sun or under stressed-out conditions. In shadier locations, or with fertilizer, the foliage is plain green.

I've finally surfaced after getting some sort of routine up and running (sort of).
I love my job but the first couple of months, learning all this new stuff and still trying to keep up with house etc was pretty exhausting.
But I've decided I've got everything going as well as it's going to! I've missed playing in my garden and my little dog soooooo much!!!!!!
The nut grass in my garden is absolutely horrible and I remembered this stuff we talked about.
I figured it might be worth the price if it really works.
Annabel, did you use it in the garden itself or on the lawn?
It's actually in my garden around the base of bigger bushes where it's the worst.
I don't want to have to spend what time I do get in my garden weeding nutgrass!!

I've used it everywhere. It's now over 4 weeks and I can see the grass going brown and yellow :-))). It only targets grass. I bought a new spray this morning and will spray bits I missed with the watering can. I have not used the veges, what there were, for a month, but it won't matter now anyway. I think that I will need a second dose on the older stuff and where I missed. It's best on new shoots, so I waited/will wait till we got/get more rain.

I got mine at Landmark and they have places all over WA and Vic from what I heard. Maybe you had to pay the new price, Mrs, B
