Frank's Nursery & Crafts Going out of business

As I was driving down Central Park Ave. in Yonkers, noticed a small sign by the road. "Frank's Going out of Business". Stopped in the Franks on Jackson Ave. All Frank's are closing! :-( There aren't too many places to by plants in this area (other than Home Depot :-( ).

Still have lots of pots (about 20% off) and a few outdoor plants, mostly trees & shrubs (also about 20% off)

Another one bites the dust. This is sad!

I was there Saturday, and spent $245.00. I was talking to the 1 lady who has been there for 13 years, she said" AS time goes on the discounts will go up to 75-80% off everything. They are bringing stock from the warehouse in every couple of days. The will be gettin in x-mas items soon after the Halloween stuff. So go every few days :)

I am getting a couple from them...I may order a couple more since I now know, they are closing in April. I just had to get Love and Peace which is a new one and it is a Striped Mini Moss! Oh boy! One from their supplemental list, I really want...Madame Lauriol de Barny, is not available...I really want that one.... I know Mr Moore writes poetry...it is sad for it to come to an end..but he sure deserves to do what he wants with his time. I wish him the best!

I absolutely hate that microfiber stuff! Just hate it! One poster mentioned a linen retail venue. Was it maybe, Linens and Things, that is being remembered? They were a pretty good little store and I was sad to see them go away as they did quite a long time ago. There also was a kitchen supply store that I cannot remember the name of that was in business at about ehe same time as Linens and Things that seemed to have gone under about the same time. I miss those old fashioned stores. They used to be located in some of the strip shopping centers. I hate having to by online for so many things. It certainly helps me to NOT buy too many things. For me, it lead to me buying less, not more.

does anyone know who's taking them over? it could be another nursery chain..franks used to be flowertime. it really seems harder and harder to get different plants without having to resort to catelogues

Hi,

Well, I guess I'll be the only one not sorry to see them go. They were still a chain, maybe not as big as H.D. but a chain nonetheless. In my area they had the same old type of plants year after year. Nothing ever new or different. Usually most of them were under watered and always a day a way from dropping dead. Their tropical nursery in the greenhouse was a joke of meally bug infested plants (and I'd like to meet the person that called their twigs in a cup bonsai). :)
The only thing I went there for was tools and fertilizer. They never had bulbs out at the correct time for planting and when it was the right time they already had Christmas stuff out replacing them for months.
I'd feel bad if it were a Mom and Pop place. I know a NICE Mom and Pop place that was wonder and DIFFERENT species that doesn't show up every where. I'd be heart broken to see them go.
Luckily I have other places to go - a few nice places in NJ. Sorry to those that don't.
Just my opinion... I could be wrong.
