They have cleared the ads on the Garden gallery

I noticed today that they have actually cleaned off those revolting ads that were on the garden gallery site, so you can now post there again. Wonder why they haven't cleared them off this one>

Hello Tric and other rose bloomers.
Have they really cleared away all those horrible adds? I hope so. As you will know, I haven't visited in quite awhile now, partly because of the adds but also for other reasons: my computer completely crashed and I had to get a new one; winter jobs preparing gardens; and I've just spent heaps of time setting up an on-line family photo gallery, mostly in connection with my other pursuit, genealogy. Also, I have just undergone a TURP medical procedure (won't go into that) and am having a problem or two recovering. And I'm also awaiting advice on about a half dozen roses I (mail) ordered about 2 months ago which haven't arrived, fortunately I haven't paid for, but thought I might have heard by now. Doesn't look like they are going to come this season.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop by. Hope all are well.

I see they still haven't fixed this site; still being poisoned by who ever it is that's posting that inane rubbish. Pity; I guess the administrator has simply given up! Will try and find my old friends on another site somewhere.

I can see some value in looking at other's plans- when I started with my employer, I had 20 years worth of drawings to look at to start learning their style. That said, I hesitate to put mine out in the public domain- not because I think I have amazing ideas, but because with as hard as I've worked I want to maintain some degree of control. However, I did buy a great book at the National Building Museum in D.C. (great museum, by the way, and the old pension building in which it's housed? AMAZING piece of architecture.) Anyhow, the book is called "Garden Plans" and it's a British book, a compilation of plans and some photos from designers from around the world. There's a mix of good and not-so-good, but I bought it primarily for the graphics. I'm always trying to improve, you know? So that's a great resource.

Ken - I do find it very useful to print garden photos in black and white when I'm thinking about making changes to an area. Taking the distraction of color out of the pictures makes you see things differently, so it can help suggest things you might not otherwise have thought of. Help - GC adding footings destroyed my garden

Seems like this situation was mostly unavoidable based on the responses above since "15 feet from the construction activity" is outside our tiny yard. The plants weren't just NEXT to the construction work, they were in the middle of it, I just didn't realize the construction work required so much digging and foundation laying, this is all new to me. The yard's a tiny NYC space, 20 feet from one side to the other and the footings take up 10 feet on the west side of the property. There's already a deck over 1/3 of the exterior in back, so they only have the other 2/3 (maybe 20'x30' to dig, store, etc.). Mixing cement etc. and containers and stuff of ours they moved is taking up most of the yard. So... oh well. I still wish the GC hadn't "yes'd" me so much when it wasn't realistic. I was very clear about what I cared about. But he's got my job, inside and outside, and other jobs, so a patch of mint and 2 gorgeous rose plants aren't going to be his top priority - and shouldn't be. (oh well)

Hello Bill, I am so sorry I have just read your post from July and how terrible for you to have undergone and operation, told us of it and no one had replied. It just goes to show you how sad this site is now and how it has deteriorated. I sincerely hope you are better now, after all this time. Please accept my sincere apologies for not having acknowledged your post.Also hope your roses finally arrived and that they are now blooming. Here is a vase of Kardinal roses to cheer you up
