All very pretty GH and your Buckinghamia look terrific they are flowing everywhere here at present.
The Council plant them all over the place here , or Street planting a nice size too.
I adore Crepe Myrtle and yours is such a pretty colour, I have a very tiny one.

It's looks like it's in the Apocynaceae from the stem and leaf shape. I'd hazard a guess and say it's an ochrosia of some type. You say it has no white sap though, so that probably rules that out.

Peter, the plant looks similar to yours but the one we saw only had 1 fruit at the end of each stem and, coming from Fairhills, I presume it would be a native. It definitely doesn't have white sap, I went and checked again :)

Jan, definitely not a fig of any sort, looks similar and we both thought it was when we first saw it until we read the label. (Would have to pick up what was probably the only one without a label)

Pam, thanks for the web address. I spent ages looking for it and couldn't find it. I have had a browse and done a search but without pictures it is taking a while. There is a couple that sound like this plant but either there is no picture or it isn't clear enough. I'll keep looking anyway.

G, how about emailing your ID pic back to Fairhill? Though the once I tried that under similar circumstances I heard nothing and the ID came from surfing/ the Gallery. Different nursery!

Whereas I emailed them once for an id and they were very helpful. Definitely worth a try, GH.

I was actually going to do that yesterday when I finished browsing but we had unexpected visitors (and the house was a mess - as usual). I will try it shortly.

I think your plant is a member of family Rubiaceae, possibly some genus close to Gardenia. Another possibility is family Loganiaceae, though I am not sure that any of those have apricot-sized fleshy fruits.

They grow very well. I have seen this species in the wild within the Wet Tropics. They occur as epiphytes 20m up on tree branches.
They do best when planted under normal garden conditions in full or part sun. The flowers fade in colour as they age and are very fragrant.
Small tree to 5m.

It was in the Loganiaceae family and I've received a reply to my email from Fairhills saying it was Fagraea berteroana.

I wasn't sure if they were right at first as the reply said white fruit but the plant we saw had orangy coloured fruit, but after I had a google I managed to find descriptions that mentioned white fruit and another that said red fruit. Everything else fitted so I assumed it was right. It supposed to have a beautiful perfume. I hope it is as good as it sounds.

Does anyone know if the fruit is edible?
