When I first saw the pattern, it didn't just jump out and say 'sew me'! Then I started rummaging through my cache to coordinate the fabrics, looking for as many depression-era designs as I could and started getting excited. I am taking a break now before I head on back to the sewing room to put the last strip together on the block. Let's just say it screams my parent's era and I'm loving it. It's a special pattern and this is going to make one super quilt. That being said, there are 32 pieces in a twelve inch block, and almost as many seams, some on the bias and it used nine different materials. With that many seams, getting the finished product to be within 1/4 tolerance is the most difficult part. I can see why it's listed as three pins.......but the directions are excellent, the hardest part of it is doing a cheater diagonal seam, lol. You do have sit on your seam allowances and get them exact and it doesn't hurt to measure and true up each block section as you go. If you can sew a straight seam, and do that......then anybody can make this one. That being said, I'm tickled to see a challenge now and then. You pretty much get back what you put into something and this one is sure worth it. It's on my 'to do list' now. Love it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I have been growing Adeniums for about 7 years and have tried growing all species with moderate (and in some instances no) success. My small "Adenium Park" is long gone, I only kept 3 small "bonsai seedlings", but now I will try to focus on raising my own seed-grown Adeniums instead of buying mature plants. Before I lost interest in growing succulent plants, I sowed hundreds of mainly Adenium seeds, from Köhres Kakteen in Germany and Kesorn (Adenium Seeds) in Thailand. As you know, Adenium seeds are pretty easy to germinate, and the seedlings are fun to watch growing. :-) A week ago, I sowed 80 seeds, 50 A. arabicum cultivars, 20 A. obesum and 10 A. somalense and put them on a heating mat and under growth lights (I never tried that before). I guess, it will get crowded around here. ;-) / Martin

Glad to see these little ones doing well Pieter, hope 'Woodland Elf' recovers! Finally got everything planted except rectifolia f. pruinosa. As I mentioned at the beginning I will keep clausa var. normalis in a pot. venusta Left to right front - kikutii, 'Yellow Polka Dot Bikini', siebodii 'Alba' Above left to right - 'Monashee Blue Cup' and 'Dancing Queen' Above that 'Touch of Class' & 'Wolverine' After the rain sieboldii 'Alba' 'Monashee Blue Cup' kikutii I sprayed these with Bobbex after planting - nasty deer.

What gorgeous weather we had yesterday! I had to walk outside to cut some herbs and I just loved the warm breezy day. It was not really sunny, but not dark either. The sun did peek out once in awhile. I was determined to take a walk at some point, but never made it. We were just busy with company all day and then it was dark. But not getting a walk in was the only disappointment of the day, for which I am very thankful!! Hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday too. Definitely thankful to still find friendly 'faces' here on the NE forum to visit with and talk gardening! Happy Thanksgiving!
