Full StoryHi gang
I was in Central Park, and an old lady along a path was picking fruits from a tree, which she referred to as "corneglia", and with her daughter's help, and the Fruit/Orchard forum folk, I have learned is a Cornelian Cherry. I searched Corneglia on the web, and it came up as a town in the Cinque Terra region on the Italian Mediterranean.
Does anyone here know if the tree was named for the town, or vice versa, and if they are used for preserves or pies in Italy? I don't plan on cooking any, but am curious about the history!
