Well, the concept of 'tank mixes ' is geared for those who are protecting agricultural crops, orchards, nurseries, golf courses, and similar. The directions for combinations are pretty explicit. And that's pretty much the extent of my experience. The efficacy of mixing ready-to-use products is really out of my comfort zone. My sense of it is that the end result would be diluted....with the active ingredient in each being diluted with twice as much carrier (water) . It's not something that I would suggest. In this particular example, I'd be tempted to use the spinosad as directed and add a very small amount of a horticultural oil as a sticker. Oils are often used that way. Since we are both talking about mixing stuff together, it's probably a good idea to mention that these combinations can't be made with everything. Some 'brews ' can end up being downright dangerous, either for us or for the plant...or both.

Hi HJ. I dont know if they are a weed in Brisbane but here in Logan you cannot buy them any where. I tried to when we started on the garden as there were a few on our block and I though them very pretty but were told by Bunnings and others that they are not allowed to sell them. I asked why and the person went away to find out, and she came back and told me that it the seeds there are thousands on every tree and once the seed pod opens up they germinate everywhere as they are those fly away type seeds, do they call them winged, something like that. So after hearing that we make sure that all the seed pods are cut off our trees, actually we did it yesterday trouble is I dont know how we are going to get them off when the trees get taller but if we pick up the pods every season at least we will be doing something, and if there comes a time we cant well we will cut the trees down, as by then all the good trees we have planted will be so much bigger....Cheers..MM.

Hello Woko again. I was a member of the APSoc for over a decade and eventually left as it was taken over by political radicals. All into "indigenous species" that were very limiting. I'm well aware of the site you posted, and certainly the wonders of Google. I go back to Adelaide where I grew up and always had an eye for any bird throughout the district, then and now. It is any wonder that this same suburb now buzzes with immense bird life because the locals have introduced species from across the nation that suit their conditions. What tress and plants do you have in Goulburn may I ask? The best advice one can get is from practicalities not from tomes of data, but from those who have "actual experience", that is what I was expecting. Cheers.

Huggorm...I have seen various cut leaf beeches in my life. You wouldn't think one was an oak. If this is one, it is one that must be named "quercifolia". Enlarge the picture. You can see what looks like Oak leaves coming out! They had the texture of oak leaves, not of beech leaves. But yes I suppose I could have been fooled! It seems like the most logical explanation haha. Although...I just googled Fagus quercifolia...and the pictures that show up, do not resemble this. Maybe this is the true cultivar, and many others are imposters? I saw beautiful southern beeches for much of my trip and will post pictures of them eventually. Yes I didn't even go into the sad state of Christchurch. They are still very much rebuilding 5 years later. They have filled shipping containers with stones and stacked them 4 tall, and 2 deep in parts of the town, to keep collapsing buildings from killing pedestrians. In case their structures cannot hold up anymore, or another earthquake occurs. This allowed them not to have to demolish those buildings while funds for restoration are raised.
